An Update
For those of you that I don't talk to all of the time, here is an update of life! Matt completed his first year of residency. Yeah! He is now on to the next chapter of life as a resident and all that comes with it. This week he is studying and taking classes during the day for orientation at his new hospital downtown. Meanwhile, I am finishing up at Wal-Mart...my last day is Thursday and I can hardly wait! (I am looking for a teaching/tutoring job currently.) Otherwise, I am busy sorting, cleaning, and packing up our apartment so we can move this weekend. I have always taken for granted living by family, namely my mom, who has helped with this process in the past. It takes so much longer than I would like it to! And a final note, the weather has finally warmed up and we can enjoy this beautiful place that we live. Hopefully we can take advantage of me not having a job and do some fun things this summer.

Lake Trip
Of course we couldn't go to Arizona and not get to the lake. We went out bright and early before it got too busy.

Our nieces and nephews looked so cute sitting at the back of the boat. They love being on the boat and some can even manage a nap while the boat bumps and rocks. Amazing!

Matt loves to wake board and has some great moves! He also surfed from the boat...looks too hard for me!

I decided that this trip was my chance to learn to wake board. Here I am nervously waiting in the water.

Amazingly enough I got up my first time, but it took me a few times to get the hang of it and stay up. I am only showing this picture to prove that I actually did it. ;)

Wedding
We went to Arizona for my youngest brother's wedding. He married the sweetest girl and they just moved to California for the summer. I don't have any pictures of them, but we got family pictures taken the day before the wedding so I will post some when I get them.

The reception was very nice and their colors were blue and brown...hence our color coordinating outfits.

Cutest Set of Twins!
When I went to Arizona a couple of weeks ago I got to spend time with my sweet nieces. They are so darn cute and have such fun personalities. They absolutely love to have their picture taken and expect to see the picture on the screen after you take it. In fact, I could have posted about 50 pictures because it seems like they are the only ones I got pictures of.

I just love their blue eyes! They have two bottom teeth now and are just about ready to walk. They are celebrating their first birthday on the 5th. Happy Birthday girls!

Food and Animals
The Puerto Rican food was sure tasty! We had mofongo, which is smashed plantains and some sort of filling like fish, beef, or chicken.

We also had a yummy pina colada here at this outdoor restaurant.

This was a snail I saw in the rain forest.

This lizard was just sitting there staring at me so I had to take his picture! I saw a few lizards running around in Puerto Rico and they sure weren't little!

Snorkeling
Sadly, I don't have pictures of our snorkeling/kayaking trip. We used a waterproof camera and the pictures didn't really turn out that great. Maybe I will try to include some later. This was a fun day and we got to snorkel and see some pretty fish and different reefs. Matt was hoping to see turtles, but the water was really rough at the reef where we might have seen them so we missed out. We kayaked from one island to another and it was tough! The wind and water were so bad and I get really nervous about being in a tiny kayak and not knowing what is under us so I got a little tippy (is that a word?)and we tipped over...not what I wanted, but we got back in fairly quickly! Overall, it was fun and I am working on being in the water and surrounded by the unknowns of the ocean. That night we got back in a kayak and went to this Bio Bay where there are things that live in the water that glow when they are touched as a defense. So, at night when you are there and put anything in the water that is moving, it glows. You can see fish darting around in the water because of this and when you put your hand in the water and pull it out it looks glittery. It is really fascinating! We would have taken pictures, but it doesn't show up and I'm sure wouldn't do it justice.
El Yunque Rain Forest
We went hiking in the rain forest. What a beautiful place!
Matt checking out the foliage.
This was the waterfall that we hiked to. The water was a little bit chilly.
Another waterfall along the road.
I love all of the green plants and running water. It was quite humid, but I guess that is how it stays so green and beautiful.
