Downtown Date Night

We had our weekly date downtown tonight. It was a beautiful night and we had a great time.

Dinner was at this place that Matt has been to where they have gourmet hotdogs. They were super yummy and cheap! Just our kind of place...just as long as there isn't something going on downtown we can get in...otherwise, forget it.

We stopped to listen to this band play in the park. They were really great and so much fun! The crowd was totally into it!

This band was called "Hot Sauce". They sure knew how to pump up the crowd!

Our favorite time of the year is coming up, so we should have more evening dates to share with you.

Proceed with Caution

Matt took his second field trip for toxicology and they got to go to the Detroit Zoo. They went to see the venemous creatures and got to go behind the reptile cages...sounds absolutely horrible to me, but he had a great time and I thought I would show you some of the pictures he took.

Loved this fountain picture. It felt so kid like and since Matt was on a "field trip" I wanted to include it.

On to the snakes...yuck!

This is the last picture of the snakes and it is one of the most venemous snakes in the country. Lovely.

The cute turtles.

Yes, this is a turtle...strangest one I've ever seen!

On to the lizards...the fun just keeps going. :)

A few other animals at the zoo.

Anita's Kitchen

One of the BEST things about Michigan is a new kind of food that we have been introduced to. We love Lebanese/Middle Eastern food and there is a fabulous place right by us that we can't get enough of.

Lentil soup

Chicken wings, Lebanese style - Matt's favorite

Chicken Shawarma - Amber's favorite

Gyro pita

So good!

Field Trip

Matt is doing toxicology this month and so he is studying drug interactions and poisons/venoms. They get to go on a couple of field trips...funny thought, but I guess residents need a little excitement too. The first trip was to East Lansing to Michigan State where they have an amazing garden. They talked to a scientist that LOVED his job and found out lots of information about the kinds of plants that are used to make all kinds of drugs, both good and bad. It looks very pretty and just shows you a taste of the beautiful greenery that is in Michigan.
