Stevenson Family Pictures

Since we were all in AZ in May for Jader and Kris's wedding, we got some family pictures. I think they turned out great and were relatively painless! My brother's HATE to take pictures but we got lucky to have some very UNlike Arizona weather and it was windy and cool.

Poor Cooper and Parker were holding on to Meliza for dear life! (Meliza is code for the twins, Melania and Eliza...our niece Missy came up with the simpler form to get it right no matter which one you are talking about.)

New Job

Well, I finally got a teaching job! I have applied to so many teaching positions over the last year and now it has finally happened! Earlier in the week I got a call from a tutoring center and they had me come in for an interview today. Basically, the director asked me about my teaching experience and then offered me a teaching job. I am so excited and blessed to be able to use my degree and hopefully benefit children in the process.

Dinner Cruise

Matt's mom has been visiting this last week so we took a drive to Port Huron for a dinner cruise. It was tons of fun! We got to take a boat ride to a fancy restaurant and then we sailed back just in time to see the sunset.

These are a couple of the things we saw on our cruise.

Matt and his mother, Laurie.

This is the boat that we cruised on.

Matt contemplates life and wonders if he can wake board behind a ship of this size.

Ann Arbor

For the 4th of July we decided to take the day and go to Ann Arbor, which is about 45 minutes away. There are lots of nature parks and lakes there so we checked a couple of them out. It was a perfect day and the sun actually came out for a little while!

This swan was just hangin' out on the grass and Matt was able to get close and take some pictures of him and his family. (I am guessing it was a male cause he was so big...good reasoning, right?)

Cheese! Gotta love the pictures you take because there is nobody else there to do it for you. ;)

We ate at this swanky place in Ann Arbor that is well known for their sandwiches. We shared a pastrami sandwich which was tasty, but WAY too expensive for what we actually got.

We will definitely put Ann Arbor on our list of places in Michigan to go back to.

Church

Since we have recently moved we now go to a church building in Detroit. It is an old Greek Orthodox Church that was bought at least 10 years ago by the church. Let me tell you, it really distracted me the first week that we went. It is HUGE inside and has a big cathedral ceiling. It is painted in greens, pinks, and oranges inside with lots of scroll work. The air conditioning units are rather large and quite loud so it sounds like there is a waterfall right behind you in the chapel. The whole thing is a new experience for me since I have only ever been to your typical LDS chapel. This week I made Matt take a picture of the outside so everyone could see it. Neat huh?
