Yates Cider Mill

While my parents were here we went to a cider mill for a real fall experience. It got a little chilly while we were there. Perfect cider weather!

Matt was drooling over these dogs. He is itching for a dog...the bigger the better for him. The St. Bernard weighed 190lbs! Yikes, that is no lap dog!

Cheese!

Feeding the animals. Matt loved this...my mom did too.

Entertainment while we waited in line to get the main event...cider and donuts!

The wheel pumps the water that runs the mill.

Watching the apples get crushed for the cider. It is quite fascinating to watch.

Michigan Temple

This is the Michigan temple. We are very fortunate that it is only about 15 minutes from where we now live.

Sunday

My mom absolutely loved all of the changing leaves, even though we don't have as many as last year at this time. The weather and pretty leaves make it feel very fallish.

The front of our church. The sign proves that it is an LDS church. Ha ha!

Downtown Detroit

We had so much fun downtown. There is so much to see. Matt and I decided that it is good for us to have visitors because we see and do things that we wouldn't have and we are obviously missing out!

These are the GM buildings behind us.

This is the Detroit River. Across the river is Canada.

Matt aka: Rocky?

The revolving doors of the GM building. My dad is suppose to be going around the third door, but apparently he didn't want to play this game.

Looking up in the GM building.

Skipping on the glass walkway.

More downtown.

Lunch time!

This is Michael Jackson's jacket behind us.

Blue Nile

Matt has wanted to try out this Ethiopian restaurant that is near us ever since we moved here, but I have been able to avoid it...until now. I guess we decided to try something new so we found ourselves sitting on short stools around our basket table for dinner.

Finger foods. You use this crepe like bread as a scoop to pick up the food. It was actually pretty good. We had chicken and beef, and several types of vegetables. Ethiopian food is cooked with hardly any fat and is actually really healthy.

Shopping and dinner. Great combo.

Frankenmuth

My parents came for a visit and we went to Frankenmuth. This is a German town and they have a huge Christmas store also. Matt and I have been here before and I knew my parents would enjoy it, plus we could see some pretty leaves on our drive. Matt had to work so it was just the 3 of us.

Outside of the store. It was a very rainy day!

I got an early birthday present. My parents got me the Willow Tree Nativity. I love it!

A little bit busier...

We have been in our new ward since the first of July and have been coasting by loving our freedom of no callings. (Even though since week one I have conducted the music in RS and sacrament...just an unofficial calling.) Anyways, last Sunday our luck ran out. Matt is now the assistant ward clerk, which is a huge calling as our ward just changed from a branch. This is actually a great calling for Matt right now because he can work when he has time. Then, I was called to be the 2nd counselor in the RS presidency. Yikes! Here I thought that was a grown up calling...yeah, I guess that would be what I am...it just doesn't feel like it sometimes. So, we will see how everything goes.
