Beaches

We saw some beautiful beaches! Our whole goal for the trip was to relax and what a place to do it!

We got to this beach on a ferry ride to another island called Culebra. This beach was what you would imagine a Caribbean beach to look like. The water was a turquoise color and the sand was white and so soft. We could have hung out here forever!

This beach was the one at our hotel. It had a sort of rock wall that acted as a breaker for the waves. It was a very calm beach.

Finally, this is a huge beach near our hotel. It was quite a popular place and I loved the scenery.

Dorado

We stayed at a great hotel in Dorado. It was a big suite with a living area, kitchen, bedroom and the best part was the huge jacuzzi tub! Oh, and the view was gorgeous! Just outside our balcony was the ocean.

On our way?

Last Friday morning we were on our way bright and early for our vacation. We should have gotten to Puerto Rico in the early afternoon, but because of weather and airport issues we didn't get there until that night. Our first stop was in Philadelphia, where they apparently have some major issues with delays and weather. We ended up missing our connecting flight to Puerto Rico by about 20 minutes. Ironically enough, we were just 2 out of about 30 people who should have been on that flight. Don't you think it would have been easier for the airline to hold a plane for 20 minutes when 30 passengers aren't on it? That is what we thought, but anyways, they got us on a flight to Miami that would put us in Puerto Rico at about midnight. Not great, but we didn't have a choice. So, once we were in Miami Matt asked them if we could get on an earlier flight so we didn't have to hang out in the airport all day. Luck was on our side because we got on a flight and finally arrived on our relaxing trip at about 6:30...just 5 hours after we should have been there. It all worked out, but was such a frustrating day!

Are we there yet?

2 more days!

Oh, what a crazy life we have! Let's just say that the last couple of months have been challenging and we need a vacation! So, we are going to Puerto Rico on Friday...yeah! We will take lots of pictures to post.

This is our countdown that my mom made and sent to us. We have been eating our way through the countdown of Swedish fish and we are finally at the end. Can't wait!

Dedication

I forgot about this until I was erasing pictures from the camera. About a week ago we had a big storm, which knocked out our power for a few hours. It was completely black, but Matt needed to study for his upcoming test so we lit candles, got out flashlights, and he made it work. What a dedicated man!

Only in my dreams...

I have been dreaming about sunshine and feeling the warmth of the sun for weeks now...probably more like months, but I am REALLY getting anxious now! I asked Matt the other day where the warm weather of spring was and he laughed...apparently we are in the warmer weather of spring. Silly me, I forgot that some people don't get to experience the 80's until May or June, not in March like they do in AZ. So, I find myself thinking warm thoughts as I fall asleep. Ah, a girl can dream!

Ode to ER

I had some moments of deja vu tonight as I watched the finale of the tv show ER. My brothers like to tease me that everything medical that I know I owe to that show! I was quite the follower of the show for a very long time and now I catch it every once in a while, mostly as re-runs. Anyways, as I was watching tonight I found myself sucked in to the story and remembering all of the characters and old episodes that had made me cry or laugh and act like the characters are real people. How does that happen with a show? We talk about it like they are more than a story, but could be in our lives. So, yes it made me homesick and missing my teasing brothers but I wouldn't trade where I am now for the world...I also realized that I have my own Doctor Carter...Doctor Steimle! He is my one and only love and I get to feel the thrill of the medical field every day and not just on re-runs.

I just had to include this picture...we got an adorable picture of our niece Alyssa using onion rings as glasses and so this is Matt's version.
