Cedar Point

Matt and I had a day off together on Friday so we had planned to go to Sandusky, Ohio, which is a couple of hours from us to go to Cedar Point. If you don't know what this is it is kind of like Six Flags. We woke to a rainy day, but we were lucky enough to have clear skies and only one hour of rain while we were actually at the park.

I am not sure if I have ever pointed out Matt's fun grandpa sunglasses, but this is a good shot of them. Aren't they cute?

After a forced lunch break because of the rain, the line started forming quickly for this ride, the Maverick. It was one of the best roller coasters they had. Smooth and fast!

Matt is taking a time out!

This is a before shot of this roller coaster. On this ride, you climb almost straight up and then drop almost straight down. After that it was pretty much a blur. I thought I was going to loose my stomach on this ride! It was fast and turned and twisted and who knows what else because I was just trying to keep it together the entire time.

After the dreaded ride. Are we done for the day?

Matt is "Driving Miss Daisy" on this ride. We cooled things down after lots of too fast rides in a row. It seems that when we rode in the old fashioned cars when I was young that they went a lot faster. I think we were hauling at 2 miles per hour.

Look, no hands!

More spinning!

Matt wanted to try this ride again. It is called maXair and that is exactly what you get. It is such a weird sensation to be so high and spinning at the same time. Yuck. Once is all I could handle so I took pictures.

One ride that we didn't get to take a picture of was called Top Thrill Dragster. This one has a drag racing feel where you shoot off the line and go 120 miles per hour and up really high and then come sailing back down while making a slight twist on the way up and down. It is totally thrilling and scary at the same time. Plus, the anticipation at the starting line is so intense. I think this was one of our most favorite rides and we got to do it twice. We had such a great day, and the weather was perfect.

A night on the town

Matt finally had a night off so we decided to check out a place called Mexican Town. We heard that this was the place to go for Mexican food in Michigan. It was pretty good, but I am very partial to the Arizona kind of Mexican food.

There is a street full of restaurants and a couple of shops. It reminded me of Rocky Point, where my family goes yearly.

We decided to get fruity drinks...such a fun treat. Matt really enjoyed his!

The very loud mariachi singers.

Outside of the restaurant...a must have picture moment.

This is the bakery. It is so hard to choose just one!

Don't these look so yummy?

As you can tell, it was a great night out and we enjoyed ourselves. We will have to go back and try another restaurant next time we feel the cravings hit.

Our New Place

Matt was out mowing the lawn this afternoon so I decided it was a perfect opportunity to take a few pictures. Don't you love the lawn mower? Dad, even I can work this one!

This is the front of our new place...well, kind of new. We have been living there since the first of July. I absolutely love the front porch!

This is our back yard...we have some black squirrels that love to play in our tree, but unfortunately they are a little camera shy.

Woodward Avenue

In case you didn't know, it is a holiday weekend...well, if you live anywhere near Woodward Avenue in Michigan it is. Last year Matt and I weren't aware of the excitement that is the Woodward Dream Cruise. Now that we live just off of Woodward we are in the thick of it. Woodward was the first paved street made for cars, so once a year people from all over bring out their cool cars and cruise down the street. Here are some of the cars we saw last night when we cruised down Woodward.

Strange. Not sure what it is?

This guy wanted Matt to take his picture...I know what you are thinking!

This next one is my very favorite!

Matt got to pose next to the big star!

This is Main Street in Royal Oak.

Coney Island is a Michigan thing...it is kind of like a diner that serves Greek food among other things. Matt had Greek and I got breakfast.

Date night eating out.

Stevenson Family Pictures

Since we were all in AZ in May for Jader and Kris's wedding, we got some family pictures. I think they turned out great and were relatively painless! My brother's HATE to take pictures but we got lucky to have some very UNlike Arizona weather and it was windy and cool.

Poor Cooper and Parker were holding on to Meliza for dear life! (Meliza is code for the twins, Melania and Eliza...our niece Missy came up with the simpler form to get it right no matter which one you are talking about.)

New Job

Well, I finally got a teaching job! I have applied to so many teaching positions over the last year and now it has finally happened! Earlier in the week I got a call from a tutoring center and they had me come in for an interview today. Basically, the director asked me about my teaching experience and then offered me a teaching job. I am so excited and blessed to be able to use my degree and hopefully benefit children in the process.

Dinner Cruise

Matt's mom has been visiting this last week so we took a drive to Port Huron for a dinner cruise. It was tons of fun! We got to take a boat ride to a fancy restaurant and then we sailed back just in time to see the sunset.

These are a couple of the things we saw on our cruise.

Matt and his mother, Laurie.

This is the boat that we cruised on.

Matt contemplates life and wonders if he can wake board behind a ship of this size.
